Rainy Lake Fish

Spring (May-June): Walleyes can be found in current areas as well as shallow wind blow shore line and points. Pitching 1/16-1/8 jigs works best. When the weeds start showing up pulling spinners can be a great way to catch walleyes as well. Smallmouth bass will be either pre spawn or spawning during this period. Look for boulders and gradual shorelines. Wacky rigs, Mepps spinners, and top water baits can be very productive.

Mid Summer (July- Mid August):Walleyes will be on main lake humps. Walleyes will start at the tops of humps then move to the edges as the summer progresses. Jigs, drop shots, and Lindy rigs are great mid summer rigs. Bass are now post spawn and will be on main lake points and rock piles.

Late Summer (Aug-September): Walleyes will begin to move to mud areas off of reefs. Typical walleye lures can be effective. Smallmouth will begin moving to reefs similar to mid season walleye spots.
